Welcome Water Protector Center (Headwaters Hub)

Welcome Water Protectors began in 2020 as a pipeline resistance camp and community serving the Indigenous-led movement to Stop Line 3. We’re located on the banks of Misi Ziibii, or the Mississippi River, in Anishinaabe territory, about 15 miles north of the small town of Palisade.

After serving as a gathering place for water protectors who stood together in the face of a destructive tar sands oil pipeline, this space is now being collectively cared for by Native and non-native water protectors and land stewards, and imagined as a hub for land-based education, cultural exchange, and action.

We gather here to share knowledge, to develop practices of care and accountability, and to build movements that protect water, defend land, and support the liberation of Indigenous people and other relatives.

Please join us as we co-create this space. We welcome our nearby neighbors and other visitors.
